30 Day Anime Challenge: Day 18 and 19

I came home from a pep rally rather late last night, so I decided to forego posting.  As a result of my lack of posting yesterday, I will be making up for it by posting Day 18 and Day 19 together since I will be using the same anime for the two posts anyways.

Day 18: “Favorite Supporting Female Anime Character”

My favorite supporting female anime character as of right now is Megumi from Food Wars! Shokugeki no SoumaFood Wars is my favorite cooking anime, and the only cooking anime that I have watched.  I love Megumi’s character.  She is unbelievable sweet and innocent.  It is adorable watching her learn how to become a better cook and gain some confidence.  With Souma by her side, there is no way that she will be dropped from the school.  She is always positive and interesting to watch.  I loved seeing the episode in season one or two, I forget which one it was, where the anime gave some additional backstory as to where she came from.  I love how close knit her family is and the welcoming atmosphere her small town gives off.  I would love to watch more episodes focusing on her, rather than Soma once in a while.

Throughout the years, Souma developed a passion for entertaining his customers with his creative, skilled, and daring culinary creations. His dream is to someday own his family’s restaurant as its head chef. Yet when his father suddenly decides to close the restaurant to test his cooking abilities in restaurants around the world, he sends Souma to Tootsuki Culinary Academy, an elite cooking school where only 10 percent of the students graduate. The institution is famous for its “Shokugeki” or “food wars,” where students face off in intense, high-stakes cooking showdowns. As Souma and his new schoolmates struggle to survive the extreme lifestyle of Tootsuki, more and greater challenges await him, putting his years of learning under his father to the test.

Day 19: “Most Epic Scene Ever”

This spoils the ending for the second season of Food Wars, so you may not want to read.

I thought the first season of Food Wars was well done, but then I saw the second season.  I remember watching each newly released no later than an hour after it was released on Crunchyroll.  I was addicted.  The rivalry between Souma, Hayama and Ryou was intense during the Autumn Elections.  The trio all studied and worked extremely hard to improve their cooking abilities in such a short amount of time; I could not stop watching.  The “Most Epic Scene Ever” in this anime would be when a winner was announced amongst the three, to see who would be moving on to the finals.  This occurred in Episode 10 of the second season.  I was expecting the anime to be similar to a Disney ending where the main character always wins in the end, however, it was not like that at all.

I can’t wait for the third season to be released.  I guess I will have to settle for the manga as I wait in anticipation.
