Day 17: “Favorite Supporting Male Character”
As you could probably tell, if you’ve kept up to date with my posts thus far, I tend to obsess over supporting characters in an anime about 87 percent of the time. I am instantly a fan of a character if they have two specific quirks, which are being protective over their siblings, being hot, and they are fairly smart. Actually…dumb characters will suffice, as long as they are pleasing to look at. Older brother characters are my weakness. With that being said, these traits evidently describe my favorite supporting male character, Nozomu Nanashima.
Nana was deemed my favorite character from Kiss Him, Not Me as soon as I started to read the manga. While the other boys are good-looking and all, once again, Nana is the perfect older brother. The scene where Nana danced with his younger sister was cute enough to kill me. I am starting to feel like Kae right now…
Although Nana only seemed to like Kae for her looks and was adamant about her remaining skinny, I think he is truly serious about his relationship with Kae and means well. I view him as being one of Kae’s biggest cheerleaders. It is adorable watching him get all flustered when he is alone with her. He may have treated her harshly in the beginning, but didn’t all of the boys except Asuma? Once he got to know Kae, I feel like he fell in love with her personality, despite the fujoshi part.
Overall, Nana’s outgoing behavior and constant desire to help out others is what makes me feel so drawn to him, of course being an older brother is a bonus.
Synopsis: Kae Serinuma is a second year high schooler and an avid fujoshi who secretly ships her classmates, Igarashi-kun and Nanashima-kun. The death of her favorite anime character causes her to become stressed—and loses weight rapidly. Now that Serinuma has become an attractive girl to her classmates, her snarky kouhai Shinomiya-kun, and her senpai Mutsumi, how is she going to deal with them …with her constant BL-filled, fujoshi mind?!
